Buses -a cheap, regular but not frequent service.  Coaches* -trips to Corfu Town and other places.

Walking- this is one of the best ways of seeing the local area. Wonderful isolated tracks lead over the hills, through olive and citrus groves, giving you panoramic views and scenes which you will treasure for a lifetime.

Diving Fun Club*- St Georges which is about 15 minutes away by car from AG Stefanos.

Tennis Court *-AG Stefanos, Rackets and Balls for hire.

Riding* -is also offered in Corfu Town and other areas.

Aqualand *-Corfu Water Park -Agios Ionnis, Nr Corfu Town, and Sidari.  Gym*-Sidari. Body building, Circuit Training & Sauna, also at Athena Hotel, Agios Stefanos.

International Golf Course, Ropa Valley, (close to Aqualand & horse riding) Yachting and villa holidays can be combined through While away with San Stefano

Scooters, motorbikes, quads and bicycles -a good and inexpensive way to see the island. Although great fun, BE CAREFUL -the roads are not as well-maintained as ours and an olive residue can cause slippery surfaces. Unfortunately the accident level here is appalling with local insurance cover often inadequate so PLEASE bear this in mind when taking out your own insurance (this applies to ALL activities)

 Travel.

The San Stefano Travel Office amongst others will be delighted to assist with the above.  (*not always available in low season or bad weather, Note medical & insurance advice should be sought re scuba diving)

 Wedding Services.

The most romantic setting. Get married in Corfu !!   Receptions in San Stefanos.  This can be arranged by the above in conjunction with While Away Holidays.

San Stefano Real Estate:  This is a new service which can be provided by
the above in conjuntion with While Away Holidays.

AMENITIES

Supermarkets -Although not "Tescos", they do provide most things you usually expect to find at home, from fresh to frozen. Open all week, all day in high season, from 8 am to 10 p.m. (except of course on national and religious holidays).

Gift shops -These are plentiful, offering good value and good quality goods, from statues to bikinis. Post Offices -Most shops and hotels sell stamps and stationery.  Newspapers -Are available, if a day late. Also paperbacks, tourist maps and guides.

Chemists -In Sidari, although we were to have our own in the village but it might be avrio, avrio! No promises. If you have any problems, ask your host/ess, especially if a doctor is required (any accidents to be reported to a doctor and host/ess as a representative of the company).

Vaccinations -No specific vaccinations are required for Corfu (except for Polio and Tetanus). But check with your local health centre.

Telephones -These are metered and available in most tavernas and tourist offices. A card phone is to be found outside the Supermarket. Phone cards can be purchased in the Margarita supermarket.

Currency -Travellers cheques can be exchanged at the airport, tourist offices, hotels, shops and tavernas for Greek currency (Euros )  and as of July 1993, no currency restrictions or limits on travel allowances apply to British holidaymakers. Some countries do restrict the amount of their currency which you can take in and out. However, please ask your travel agent or bank for details. Travellers  cheques are an excellent way of carrying large amounts of cash, but it is a good idea to order a small amount of local currency to pay your taxi on arrival/departure and to retain some sterling for your return journey.

Major credit cards are generally accepted ~ do check with your bank, however, before departure regarding Euro cheques. Personally, we have found that the use of credit cards in Agios Stefanos is limited -besides, the use of a card tends to incur an interest charge.
